Essentially a weird-looking, kitchen-centric Amazon Echo with a projector (it’s a Magic 8-Ball for the 21st century), the Egg not only looks up receipes you ask for, but projects step-by-step videos to help you make them. There’s a similar concept assistant from Bosch, but it’s not nearly as goofy looking, which is part of Hello Egg’s charm. If it rolls its eye at my cooking skills, though, it’s gonna end up scrambled.

Pioneer just released their latest line of car gadgets – the Pioneer Nex CarPlay Receiver! As the name states, the Nex acts as a receiver, connects to your iPhone via Apple’s CarPlay connection and gives access to all your smartphone’s on-board and cloud-based features.

If Google Home isn’t your cup of tea or there is already an Amazon Echo in the home, the Amazon Echo Dot could be a good bolt-on gift for someone who wants the Alexa voice assistant extended throughout a property.

When I first saw the Buzzard I had rather hoped the drink-can container would house a rechargeable battery, so you could take the Buzzard out of the car but sadly not. Still, it does make for a handy way to keep everything neat and tidy when not in use – better to have it sat in your car’s cup holder than rattling around the cabin or glove box. For £15 per month you can have a Buzzard gratis with 3GB of data or alternatively it is available on PAYG for £59 plus a £10 top up that gets you 2GB of data to use in 30 days.

Basically, you place the PowerCup in your vehicle’s cup holder, you hook it up to your car’s power outlet (cigarette lighter plug) and you you start charging your gadgets. The PowerCup will charge laptops, tablets, smartphones, DVD players, portable game system, MP3 players and just about anything that requires electrical power to run.

For every engine, there is a sweet spot. Basing on your car’s sweet spot, GOFAR will use real-time feedback to give you driving data that can help lower your costs. Moreover, it will alert you on fuel consumption through colors. If the display glows blue, it means that your car is still in the sweet spot (Efficient driving). However, the red color shows that you are wasting energy. It, hence, is really one of the cool accessories for cars you should have.

OK, hands up, if your car ran out of battery and you had to give it a boost, would you know which leads go where? If not, this gadget could be your saving grace. The vehicle-to-vehicle booster works in a similar way to common jump leads – in that it transfers battery power from one car to another. However, instead of lifting up the bonnet, you can just connect this device to both cars’ 12V DC sockets (the cigarette lighter socket) and a few minutes later your car will be raring to go. The lead itself is six meters – easily long enough to stretch between two cars.

The Dato Duo is another synth for kids that I think is more successful in its design, showing, for example, a giraffe with a short and long neck for the knob that adjusts a note’s length. The Blipblox could benefit from symbols, and although it has shortcomings, it’s nice to see additional companies think about how to make synthesis and music programming accessible for young children.

A gift for cable cutters, the Roku Premiere+ is an update on the previous Roku streaming stick which is able to support HD and 4K Ultra HD content streaming. Intel and AMD, rivals in the CPU game, have teamed up to bring us a new set of processors. Specifically, they merge Intel’s Core i5 and i7 processing power with AMD’s Radeon RX Vega M graphics technology. Like Nvidia’s Max-Q architecture, this new setup will make gaming laptops smaller and thinner. And both the Dell XPS 15 and HP Spectre X360 already use versions of the chip.

There are several implementations based on existing software development techniques, like JavaScript, form input, and various image formats.

Actually, that brings up an interesting idea — imagine if Apple actually made an iCar?  People would line up to buy one. It would drive itself. And it would completely die after two years, so you’d be forced to buy a new one. $15.99 – Etsy via Nerd Approved
