The battle between Sony’s PlayStation consoles and Microsoft’s Xbox series is hard-fought, but right now we think the PS4 Pro has the edge over the Xbox One S, thanks to a combination of good hardware, great games, and a generous online offering.

These bands for your wrists and ankles use accelerometers and an app to coach you to develop more graceful movement. That’s neat in itself, but their ability to approximate full-body motion makes me think they’d be a great start for a consumer motion-capture system. That’s just how I roll.

For me, it’s my silicone garlic roller. Pop a clove of garlic in, roll it on the counter for a bit, and out pops your peeled garlic! I make a lot of dishes with a lot of garlic, including homemade hummus, and I didn’t know these things existed until a few months ago. It saves me so much trouble, and garlic smell on my hands! —hordeoralliancewtf

Obviously performance depends on network coverage and I can see long trips punctuated by moving from 4G to 3G to No G then back again. In due course, this should become less and less of a problem as EE’s footprint expands.

Why you need it: The Thermomix is used and loved by professionals and aspiring Nigellas alike and saves time in prep and cooking: a carrot-cake mixture takes 30 seconds, Hollandaise sauce four minutes. It’s time-saving and also reduces energy costs.

Virtual assistants like Siri have been around for years, but it wasn’t until the first Amazon Echo launched in 2014 that voice-enabled gadgets really started to take off. Three years later, Amazon’s true successor to the original Echo improves on the first version in every meaningful way. The design is shorter and more attractive, the improved speaker includes a woofer and a tweeter, and most importantly, it’s noticeably cheaper at just $99.99. These enhancements should help keep Amazon at the top of the smart speaker market as competition from rivals like Google, Microsoft and others heats up.

The Transporter, developed by Connected Data, allows you to deliver your own cloud service for file syncing and sharing on easy to deploy hardware that you own and control. In short, it allows you to manage your business’ files privately. Popular services like Dropbox and Box require users to navigate a shared drive to find files, which slows down efficiency and inevitably risks exposing sensitive business information. But Transporter removes the limitations imposed by those other services and allows employees to personally organize shared files and folders on their computers in ways that make sense to them, access those files from mobile devices, and sync data from home or on the road.

Sometimes it starts as an innocent mistake, shall we say a case of mistaken identity. You go to make your morning coffee, and your beloved mug is not where it should be. The following week you go to the kitchen and your mug is lying abandoned in the sink with green tea stains all over it – and you don’t drink green tea!

On the education side, Blipblox was one of the more interesting items on the floor. A synth designed for three to eight-year-old kids, the Blipblox has arrow paths on top connecting all the buttons to show the synth’s signal chain. The idea is to get children interested in synthesis basics early on. But, there’s no iconography on the Blipblox itself to hint at what the buttons do, so it’s hard to say how much kids will really learn as opposed to just mashing buttons. The company told me that if kids want to learn more, they can read the manual that comes with it, but that seems to defeat the product’s purpose.

Just got SleepPhones, which are headphones within a soft fuzzy headband for listening to music/podcasts while you fall asleep. I am literally incapable of falling asleep without a podcast, while my fiancé needs either light music or silence. These are so much more comfortable to wear than earbuds, she can’t hear my podcasts at ALL, and the sound quality is amazing. It’s only been two nights but I love them and have no idea how I lived without them, hahah! —Kathleen M., Facebook

The Mini Car DVR Dash Camera is the ultimate personal security camera for your car. It attaches easily and automatically records both audio and video of everything that happens on your car journey. Great for recording road trips or accidents.
Do you ever wish you had a mug that could keep your coffee hot for hours, or a comfortable place to rest your feet while you sit at a desk? Well, then you’ll definitely want to own all of these fantastic items below.
This is the standard memory card you use with your camera or phone. The the case of the much smaller Micro SD (also known as TF). If the product says SD card slot it will take any SD card you already own. Pay attention to max GB size compatibility if you are using very big storage SD cards.
This prototype phone shown by Chinese phonemaker Vivo has no official name, price or sale date. But its virtual home button, which appears only when you need it and then gets out of the way, may be a harbinger of things to come. It’s a killer feature that was rumored for both the iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S8 — neither of which had it. We’re clinging to the hope that it finds its way onto the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S9.
Meanwhile, French company MWM showed a prototype for something called Phase, which works with DVS-style DJ software (like Serato DJ) to eliminate the need for a tonearm and stylus when playing off control vinyl. It works with remotes that are affixed to the vinyl that then communicate rotation information via radio signals to a receiver that is connected to your laptop. This was my personal favorite, because not only does it solve all the issues that happen when playing with a traditional tonearm and stylus (everything from dust under a needle to needle skips from someone bumping into your setup), it can be used with any existing turntable. We saw several DJs performing complicated scratch routines using Phase with virtually no latency. Enhancia also made an appearance, demoing their MIDI ring that enables musicians to perform musical effects with simple gestures.
