For those into Glamiping, this new concept called TOWER Portable Theater is just what you need. Designed as a module that fits in a mini projector and speakers, each of them are connected by magnets so that you can store them as a tower. The system features a DLP projector with a DMD chip that allows for high contrast range. The Hi-fi Bluetooth Speakers add the requisite punch to the package. Neat idea that can go a long way in the Glamping market!

As a little aside, there were a couple companies that were trying to tackle the combination of music and VR. Aerodrums, a company that allows you to drum without a drum set, has just introduced a VR component. Aerodrums works with traditional drum sticks that have reflective balls at the tip and reflective panels that are attached to your feet. A camera then captures any movements made, allowing you to drum without a physical kit (and, when fed into headphones, without making any noise!). The new upgrade takes this same format but now allows for more immersive drumming using a VR headset. Some drumming pros I spoke to said that although they might not use the VR component themselves, they could see it being incredibly useful for beginners, and as a tool for delivering drum lessons. This was the overall vibe I got from most VR experiences — perhaps fun for beginners, but in terms of a viable alternative for pros, not quite there yet (or maybe just not needed).

Philips’ headband isn’t designed to help you get more sleep. Rather, it’s meant to help you get the most out of your sleep. The headband emits a tone that the company says improves slow wave sleep, the stage in the sleep cycle at which brain waves and breathing slow to their lowest levels.

There are absolutely better-sounding, better-looking and better noise-cancelling headphones out there, but none of them do everything better than the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless, which makes them the best overall pair of headphones around right now.

OK, I admit it — I’m partial to pretty colors. This bright hanging lamp sends regular light downward, but it sends colorful illumination upwards, which you can interactively control via an app. It belongs in a room with Razer’s Project Ariana.

At CES, JVC, Kenwood, and Pioneer each unveiled wireless Android Auto compatible receivers. With wireless Android Auto support, you can hop in your car, start it up, and your phone and receiver will work as if there was a tethered connection between the two. The first 8K (7,680×4,320-pixel) display, this 32-inch monitor crams in enough resolution to retouch the hairs off a model’s face and nudge your pixels precisely in Adobe Illustrator. It doesn’t match that by covering the entire Rec 2020 color space — it’s only 10-bit color, not 12-bit — and it’s not clear whether it stores the color profiles in hardware or not, but you can’t expect everything at once. For $5,000, though, Dell should throw in the calibrator for free.

Nifty little light. The light is surprisingly bright given its size. The device is very lightweight. So far I haven’t had to wind it so I can’t comment on that. A friend liked mine so much that I bought one for her.

One of the most commonly asked question is about mains electrical compatibility. Every American has experienced the frustration of trying to use 110V chargers overseas. and having concern when plugging into 240V mains sockets. So a lot of customers wonder if Chinese electronics are somehow on a strange foreign system that is not compatible. Well, not at all – first of all, the whole of China is on standard 220-240V mains electricity. It also uses EU and UK type plugs everywhere. Although we would not go so far to say electrical plugs in China are standard – much like many other things here.

The first pair of Mechanix Original gloves I had were from 2007. Those wore out fairly quickly but I kept sewing the holes in the fingers to prolong their useful life. I bought another pair in 2009, and the main differences were in the use of 65% Nylon / 35% Polyurethane all around the fingers. With the older 2007 pair, Mechanix used a more durable material on the sides of the fingers and those lasted 5 years without … full review
